What is Twitter? Three things you need to understand

Twitter, Twitter, Twitter! You hear about it all the time… but what is it? Why is it such a big deal? And why should you use it? Well, it’s actually quite simple….

Twitter is a way to communicate with other people. Yep, that’s all it really boils down to. You post something online and other people can read it. So the obvious question: why do we need yet another way to communicate on the internet? We already send emails, chat over instant messengers (AOL, Yahoo, MSN, etc), post on Facebook, participate in forums, post on blogs, and so on. Well, if you think about each of these tools, you’ll realize that each tool helps us communicate in a slightly different way.
